ROS modular pipe installation for the extraction of silicates

Design and installation of a dust extraction and filtration system generated by the transport of rejected material during the production process. This dust contains silicates and would be highly harmful to the health of workers.

ROS Ducting’s Solution

Since this installation is more than 1,600 meters long and had to adapt to a complex distribution of space with elevated and labyrinthine metal structures, our client decided to use the ROS Ducting modular ducting system, due to its great versatility at the time of assembly. As the material that had to be transported was rejected, the standard galvanized steel pipe was installed (0.8 mm thick up to Ø175, and 1.0 mm from Ø200), which makes the installation lighter in weight, and easier and faster to assemble. In this case, ducts and accessories of a wide range of diameters were installed, from Ø100 to Ø900. Given the difficulty of being able to use many support elements, due to the height and width of the structure, two additional central reinforcement beads were added to the ducts larger than Ø500 (in addition to the two that are as a standard). This increased the dynamics of the installation and prevented the weight of the material from affecting the strength of the joints.

The installation is made up of "Multiform" pipes, R1D radius segmented bends (indicated for air extraction, suction and general filtration of very fine dust, fumes, oil mist and solvents), 45º T-pieces, concentric reduction cones and manual throttle valves. Regarding assembly components, pull-rings without sealing-ring were used for diameters less than Ø700, and flanges for the larger ones.
